Just a Little Garden Magic…

No plan, no particular flower, just a walk through the garden and a burst of colors at every turn. Some flowers bloom for days, some for just a moment… but together, they make the garden feel alive. Which color caught your eye first?

Harvest Update

The Garden Is in Overdrive!

There comes a time in the garden when the biggest challenge isn't growing… it's keeping up with the harvest! Eggplants are one of those crops for me. We harvest them almost every other day, and if I miss a day or two, suddenly there are way too many to finish! So, harvesting regularly and finding little ways to use them in our meals has become part of my routine.

Ridge gourds are a little more forgiving. They take breaks between harvests, but now that our nights and early mornings are getting cooler, they seem to be waking up again and producing more. Cucumbers have been a different story this year — cucumber beetles and the virus they spread gave me a hard time, but somehow I managed to save one plant. It's giving me just a few cucumbers, but they are coming regularly and honestly, I'm happy with that!

And then there are my bitter gourds… I'm harvesting them almost every other day, and because they're one of my favorites, I certainly don't mind having extra! When the garden is full and lush, bugs become active too and they're very good at hiding among all that greenery. Regular inspection, pruning, removing damaged leaves, checking underneath foliage, and keeping plants open and healthy can make a big difference. A productive garden isn't just about growing more. It's about noticing, harvesting, checking, pruning… and keeping up with what the garden is telling you.

Harvest Update

My Morning Ritual: A Basket Full of Peace!

Some people start their mornings with coffee. I start mine by walking into my garden and discovering what it has grown for me. This morning, my garden basket came home overflowing with different kinds of beans, tindora, okra, a few tomatoes, and lots of beautiful sponge gourds.

Garden harvesting has become my morning ritual. Before the day gets busy, I step into the garden, slow down, observe, harvest and simply breathe. Gardening has taught me that it's about so much more than growing vegetables. It teaches patience, gratitude, and the joy of being present. Every new leaf, flower, and harvest is a little reminder that good things take time, care, and love. For me, the garden doesn't just grow food….it grows peace.

Tiny Gourds, Big Flavor!

I'm growing cluster ridge gourd for the first time, and I'm completely charmed by these little beauties! They keep producing wonderfully, and their small, compact size makes them almost too perfect for the kitchen. Today, I made a creamy curry with coconut milk, cumin & coriander seeds. The taste? Very similar to regular ridge gourd, but I found it a little firmer and wonderfully tender when picked young. Have you grown or cooked cluster ridge gourd before?

Garden Wisdom

Every Imperfect Vegetable Has a Story!!

Have we become so used to perfect vegetables that we forget what naturally grown food really looks like? Today, as I walked through my garden and picked my harvest, I smiled at the crooked ones, the tiny ones, and even those with a few bug bites. Each one tells a story of sun, soil, rain, and patience.

And perhaps that's what makes a garden special…..you don't just harvest vegetables; you harvest moments. So plant something, nurture it, and experience the joy of picking food with your own hands. Let your garden remind you: nature was never meant to be perfect.
